Pet Boarding in Jaipur: How to Find Trusted Home Hosts in the Pink City
By Osho Chawla, Founder of Zauffy
Jaipur's pet parent community has grown quietly but steadily. The city that was once known primarily for its palaces, forts, and textile markets now has a thriving population of dog and cat owners, particularly among the younger generation in areas like Malviya Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, and the newer developments around Jagatpura and Ajmer Road. But Jaipur's pet care infrastructure remains limited. When you need to travel, whether for business, a family wedding (and Rajasthan has long wedding seasons), or a holiday, finding trustworthy boarding for your pet is harder than it should be.
The Boarding Landscape in Jaipur
Jaipur's kennel options are sparse. There are a few facilities, mostly located along the Ajmer Road, near Bagru, or in the semi-rural areas beyond Sitapura. These are typically 30 to 50 minutes from the city centre, and the quality varies significantly. Some are decent farm-style setups with outdoor runs. Others are basic enclosures attached to dog training centres or veterinary clinics.
The challenge in Jaipur is that the pet care industry is still in an early stage compared to Bangalore or Mumbai. There aren't many dedicated boarding facilities, and the ones that exist don't have the reviews, transparency, or online presence that helps you evaluate them remotely. Word of mouth through local pet parent groups on Facebook or WhatsApp is still the primary way people find boarding, which works until it doesn't.
Premium pet hotels are essentially non-existent in Jaipur. What you find instead are informal arrangements: someone's farm on the outskirts, a dog trainer who takes in boarders, or a vet who has a few cages in the back. For pets that live in homes, sleep on beds, and have never been confined, these arrangements are far from ideal.
Why Home Boarding Works in Jaipur
Jaipur's housing stock is one of its biggest advantages for home boarding. The city has significantly more independent houses, bungalows, and ground-floor havelis than any comparable Indian metro. Even in newer residential areas, the plot sizes are generous. A host in a bungalow in C-Scheme with a walled courtyard is offering boarding that no facility can replicate.
Apartment complexes exist, particularly in Vaishali Nagar, Mansarovar, and Jagatpura, and they tend to be spacious by Indian standards. Jaipur hasn't faced the extreme land price pressure of Mumbai or Bangalore, which means flats are bigger, balconies are wider, and many ground-floor apartments have small private gardens.
This translates directly into better boarding environments. More space, more outdoor access, and more of the home-like setting that helps pets feel comfortable when their owners are away.
Home boarding also bypasses Jaipur's distance problem. Instead of driving 45 minutes to a kennel on Ajmer Road, you can find a host in your own colony or a neighbouring one. Drop-off becomes a 5 to 10 minute rickshaw ride.
What to Look for in a Jaipur Host
Cooling infrastructure. This is absolutely critical. Jaipur's summers are extreme, with temperatures routinely hitting 44 to 47 degrees from April through June. At these temperatures, heat stroke can kill a pet in hours. AC is essential, not optional, during the summer months. Even desert coolers (common in Jaipur) can be adequate if the room is well-sealed, but AC is preferable. Ask specifically about how the host keeps pets cool during peak afternoon hours. The AVMA's pet care resources provide detailed guidance on heat stroke symptoms and prevention.
Outdoor space and shade. Jaipur hosts often have courtyards, terraces, or garden areas. These are wonderful for pets, but only if they have adequate shade. An open terrace in May Jaipur sun is dangerous. Look for hosts with tree cover, covered verandahs, or shaded garden areas. Walks should be restricted to early morning (before 6:30 AM) and late evening (after 7:30 PM) during summer.
Water availability. Jaipur faces periodic water supply issues, especially in the summer months. Confirm that the host has reliable water access for both drinking and bathing your pet. This might sound basic, but in peak summer, water pressure drops in many Jaipur neighbourhoods, and a host without a storage tank could face genuine difficulty keeping pets hydrated and cool.
Fencing and compound walls. Jaipur has a large stray dog population, and encounters with strays during walks are common. Hosts with walled compounds, gated gardens, or secure boundaries offer safer off-leash time for your pet. This is particularly important for small dogs and cats.
Resident pets. Many Jaipur pet owners have Indian breeds, Labradors, and Golden Retrievers. Compatibility between your pet and the host's animals is important. Ask about temperament, not just breed.
Jaipur-Specific Considerations
The summer (March to June). This is the single biggest factor for pet boarding in Jaipur. The city sits on the edge of the Thar Desert, and summer temperatures are among the hottest in India. April and May regularly exceed 45 degrees, with some days touching 47 or 48. The ground temperature is even higher, which means paw burns are a real risk during daytime walks. All outdoor activity must be limited to the cooler edges of the day. AC rooms are non-negotiable. Ensure your pet has constant access to fresh, cool water. If your pet is brachycephalic (Pug, Bulldog, Boxer), Jaipur summers require extra vigilance.
Dust storms and loo winds. Jaipur experiences hot dust storms (locally called "andhi") during the pre-monsoon period. These can hit suddenly, with visibility dropping to near zero and temperatures spiking. The hot "loo" wind from the desert is dry and searing. Pets should not be outdoors during these events. A good host knows to bring animals inside at the first signs of a dust storm.
Monsoon (July to September). When the monsoon finally arrives, it brings welcome relief from the heat. Jaipur's monsoon is moderate compared to Mumbai or Kolkata, but heavy spells can waterlog low-lying areas, particularly in the walled city and near Dravyavati River. Most established residential areas drain adequately. The monsoon is actually one of the best times for pet boarding in Jaipur, as temperatures drop to a comfortable 28 to 32 degrees and outdoor activity becomes pleasant again.
Winter (November to February). Jaipur winters are mild and pleasant during the day but can get surprisingly cold at night, with temperatures dropping to 4 to 7 degrees in December and January. Pets need warm bedding. Short-coated dogs and small breeds may need a sweater for early morning walks. Ask whether the host provides blankets and warm sleeping arrangements during winter.
Diwali and festivals. Rajasthan celebrates Diwali with serious enthusiasm, and Jaipur's firecracker culture is intense. The noise can last for several days, with peak intensity on Diwali night. Add Gangaur, Makar Sankranti, and other local festivals with firecrackers, and noise management becomes a recurring theme. If your pet is noise-sensitive, discuss the host's approach: closed rooms, calming music, adjusted walk schedules, and whether they have experience with anxious pets during festivals.
Wedding season boarding. Rajasthan's wedding season (November to February, plus a stretch in April) generates significant boarding demand. Many Jaipur pet parents need boarding for 3 to 5 day stretches during family weddings. This is a regular use case, and experienced hosts understand the pattern. Book in advance during wedding peak, especially in December and January.
Areas With the Most Hosts
Jaipur's residential landscape is organized around old city, civil lines, and the newer developments radiating outward.
Malviya Nagar. Jaipur's most popular residential area for young professionals and families. Wide roads, good infrastructure, and a mix of independent houses and apartment complexes. Multiple parks for morning walks. Strong pet parent community with growing host availability. Good vet access. If you had to pick one area to search first, this would be it.
C-Scheme and Ashok Nagar. Civil lines heritage. Bungalows with spacious plots, tree-lined avenues, and a quieter pace. Hosts here often have large compounds with gardens. Premium location with premium pricing, but the hosting environment is excellent. Close to Rambagh area and Central Park.
Vaishali Nagar. One of Jaipur's largest residential colonies. Grid-layout streets, a mix of houses and apartments, and good community infrastructure. Multiple internal parks and walking paths. Affordable hosting options with decent space. Well-connected to the rest of the city.
Mansarovar. Jaipur's biggest planned colony. Massive residential area with distinct sectors, parks, and markets. Housing is predominantly independent floors and small apartments. Affordable and practical. Metro connectivity (Purple Line) is an added convenience for this area.
Jagatpura and Pratap Nagar. Newer developments in South Jaipur. Modern apartments and gated communities. More affordable than established areas. Growing pet parent population as young professionals move into new constructions. Some areas are still developing infrastructure, so check specific locations.
Tonk Road corridor (Durgapura, Khatipura). Residential areas along the Tonk Road stretch between the old city and airport. Mix of old and new housing. Practical for airport access. Moderate pricing.
Bani Park and Raja Park. Central Jaipur residential areas. Older houses with character, some renovated as modern homes. Walkable neighbourhoods with local markets. Close to the old city but quieter. Good for pets that do well in established, settled environments.
Sodala and Shyam Nagar. Western Jaipur residential areas with a mix of housing types. Developing infrastructure with new residential projects. Affordable options. Proximity to Jawahar Circle garden, which is a popular walking spot.
How Zauffy Verification Works
Every host on Zauffy goes through a verification process before they can accept bookings. This includes Aadhaar-based identity verification and a review of their home environment. Once active, hosts receive reviews from pet parents after each stay, so you can read real experiences from people in your area.
During a stay, hosts share photo updates taken through the in-app camera. These updates are timestamped, so you can see your pet in the host's actual home rather than receiving a vague "all good" text message. For pet parents who are used to the anxiety of dropping their dog at a kennel and hearing nothing for days, this level of transparency changes the experience entirely. You can read reviews from other pet parents before booking to see what the experience is like.
What Does It Cost?
Home boarding in Jaipur through Zauffy starts from Rs 400 per day. Pricing varies by area, host experience, and the size of your pet. C-Scheme and Malviya Nagar hosts tend to be at the higher end, while Mansarovar, Vaishali Nagar, and Jagatpura offer more competitive rates. Multi-day stays often work out to better daily rates, and you can compare hosts side by side on the platform before booking.
Tips for Jaipur Pet Parents
Summer-proof your boarding. If boarding between March and June, AC availability is the first and most important question. Everything else is secondary to keeping your pet safe from the heat.
Meet the host in person. Jaipur is a city where personal relationships still matter. A face-to-face meeting before the booking helps both you and the host feel comfortable. Bring your pet along so they can explore the space and meet any resident animals.
Share detailed care instructions. Meal preferences, walk frequency, favourite toys, anxiety triggers, medications. The more information the host has, the smoother the stay. Zauffy's in-app pet profile lets you share this information directly.
Plan for festivals. If your travel overlaps with Diwali, Holi, or another major festival, discuss noise management in advance. Not every host is equipped to handle a panicking dog during hours of continuous firecrackers.
Keep vet contacts handy. Jaipur has good veterinary clinics in Malviya Nagar, C-Scheme, and along Tonk Road. Share your regular vet's number with the host and confirm the nearest emergency clinic to the host's location.
