Finding reliable pet boarding in Delhi NCR is harder than it should be. The region sprawls across five cities, two states, and a union territory. Traffic between them is unpredictable. A host in Gurgaon might as well be in another city if you live in Noida. And through most of the year, the weather is extreme enough that where your pet stays genuinely affects their health.

This guide covers what to look for in a home boarding host across Delhi NCR, broken down by city, with the local factors that most generic pet care advice misses entirely.

Why Home Boarding Makes Sense in Delhi NCR

Delhi NCR has some of the most punishing weather in India. Summers push past 45 degrees regularly. Winters dip below 5 degrees on some January nights. The air quality crisis between October and February adds another layer of concern. A kennel with outdoor enclosures simply does not cut it here.

Home boarding solves the climate problem by default. Real homes have air conditioning in summer and heating in winter. Your pet sleeps indoors, eats in a kitchen, and goes for walks only when the temperature allows it. A good host in Delhi NCR knows that a 2 PM walk in June is dangerous, and that a morning walk during peak pollution season should be short.

There is also the Diwali factor. Every October or November, fireworks turn Delhi NCR into a nightmare for noise-sensitive pets. Dogs bolt, cats hide for days, and kennels with thin walls offer little protection. A home host can close windows, play calming music, and physically comfort your pet through the worst of it. That alone makes home boarding worth considering over any commercial facility.

Delhi: South Delhi, Dwarka, Rohini, Vasant Kunj

Delhi proper has the widest variety of housing types in NCR, which means boarding options range from compact apartments to sprawling bungalows.

South Delhi neighbourhoods like Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, and Saket have a mix of independent floors and apartments. Many hosts here live in ground-floor flats with small lawns or terraces. For dogs who need outdoor access without a full park visit, this setup works well. The downside is parking and narrow lanes, which can make drop-off stressful during peak hours.

Dwarka is more planned and spacious. Sector-based layout means wider roads, less honking, and calmer walking routes. Apartments tend to be larger. If you are based in West Delhi or travel through IGI Airport frequently, a Dwarka host is practical. The metro connectivity is strong too, which helps if someone else is handling drop-off.

Rohini in North Delhi has a similar feel to Dwarka. Planned sectors, decent parks, and a growing number of pet-friendly households. It is less connected to South Delhi, so pick a host here only if you live nearby.

Vasant Kunj sits close to the airport and has several gated communities with green areas. Hosts in these complexes often have access to walking paths and open spaces within the society, which means your pet gets exercise without dealing with main-road traffic.

Gurgaon: Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, DLF Phases

Gurgaon is arguably the most pet-friendly city in NCR, at least in terms of infrastructure. The newer residential towers and gated communities were built with amenities that happen to work well for pets: landscaped grounds, walking tracks, and security that keeps strays out.

Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension host some of the largest apartment complexes in NCR. Many of these have dedicated pet areas, green belts, and even pet-friendly cafes nearby. Hosts in these complexes can offer your pet a structured routine without ever leaving the society gates.

DLF Phases 1 through 5 are older but well-established. The mix of independent houses and plotted developments means more hosts with actual gardens. A DLF Phase 4 host with a backyard and two resident dogs is a very different experience from a high-rise apartment, and for many pets, a better one.

Sohna Road is developing rapidly. The apartments are newer, the communities are gated, and the host density is growing. It is well-connected to Golf Course Road but slightly more affordable, which often translates to larger homes for the same budget.

One thing to note about Gurgaon: power cuts still happen, especially in summer. Ask your host about power backup. An inverter that covers lights but not AC is not enough when it is 44 degrees outside.

Noida and Greater Noida: Sectors 50 to 70 and Beyond

Noida is organised by sectors, which makes finding a nearby host straightforward. The pet boarding scene here is growing, and the residential infrastructure is strong.

Sectors 50 through 70 are well-established, with a mix of builder floors and apartment complexes. Many hosts in these sectors have been living there for years, which means stable routines and familiar walking routes. Parks like Sector 50's district park are popular with dog walkers, and a host who uses them regularly will integrate your pet into the routine naturally.

Greater Noida and Noida Extension have newer, larger apartments. The Gaur City and Ace City complexes, for example, have massive common areas. Hosts here tend to have more space, though the area is further from central NCR. If you are based in East Delhi or Noida, this is a viable option. If you live in Gurgaon, the distance makes it impractical.

Noida's advantage over Gurgaon is more consistent power supply and slightly better air quality (marginally, but it counts during the worst pollution weeks). The Expressway also makes airport access reasonable.

Ghaziabad and Faridabad

These two cities round out the NCR picture. Neither has the host density of Gurgaon or Noida yet, but both have pockets worth knowing about.

Ghaziabad, particularly Indirapuram and Vaishali, has a solid residential base. The apartments are spacious, the societies are gated, and the metro connects to central Delhi. For pet parents in East Delhi, a Ghaziabad host can be closer than one in South Delhi.

Faridabad is smaller and more spread out. Sector 15 and the BPTP communities have decent housing, but host options are limited. If you find a good host here, they are likely experienced and committed, simply because casual hosts do not tend to operate in lower-demand areas.

Delhi NCR Specific Considerations

Beyond the city-by-city breakdown, there are factors unique to this region that should influence your decision.

Summer heat (April to July). This is the single biggest concern. Your pet must have access to AC for most of the day. Walks should happen before 7 AM and after 7 PM. Ask your host about their summer routine specifically. A host who says "we walk at 10 AM" in June is not the right choice.

Pollution season (October to February). AQI regularly crosses 400 in NCR. Sensitive breeds, brachycephalic dogs like Pugs and French Bulldogs, and older pets should have minimal outdoor exposure during severe pollution days. The AVMA's pet care guidelines include recommendations on managing pets in poor air quality conditions. A good host monitors AQI and adjusts the routine accordingly.

Diwali and New Year. If your travel overlaps with these dates, book early. Demand spikes, and the best hosts fill up weeks in advance. More importantly, discuss your pet's noise sensitivity upfront. Some hosts actively prepare for fireworks season with calming aids, closed curtains, and indoor enrichment.

Winter chill (December to January). Delhi winters are short but sharp. Nights can drop to 3 or 4 degrees. Small breeds and short-coated dogs need warmth. Confirm that your host keeps the room heated or provides adequate bedding.

What to Look for in a Host

Regardless of city, these are the things that matter most when evaluating a boarding host in NCR.

Independent house vs apartment. Independent houses generally offer more space and outdoor access. Apartments in gated communities offer security and structured environments. Neither is inherently better. Match it to your pet's needs.

Garden or terrace access. For dogs who need frequent outdoor breaks, ground-floor access to a garden is a significant advantage. For cats, a secure balcony or enclosed terrace works well.

AC and power backup. Non-negotiable in Delhi NCR. Full AC backup, not just fan and lights.

Other pets in the home. Some pets thrive with company. Others get stressed. Ask how many animals will be in the home during your pet's stay, and whether the host's own pets are comfortable with new animals.
